Thankful For My Best Friend!

We continue to see on the TV, social media, CNN, & etc. that world is a bit bi-polar right now. In a world where you are not sure if folks are helping you for hidden agendas; who’s really on your team; and are we really friends or just foes? Is this success really success? 2017 has brought about new growth for me. I feel like a flower budding with new vision.

With that being said I am thankful and grateful that I have a BEST FRIEND who truly has my back and best interest at heart. I not only get a best friend and husband but I get one who’s a PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR, Yeah!!! I get FREE services! Because 2017 has had my mind spinning on a few things and with the constructive criticism and great advice I appreciate my husband letting me know that I’m not crazy! LOL!!! Don’t stop being the person you truly are or sharing the gift that God has given you because you may have been hurt by folks with bad intentions. So true!

The saying “a season and a reason” is so very true! People and things enter your life for a reason and a season, and it’s all for you to learn from. If I’m not learning from it I may need to stay on that counselor coach a bit longer (trust me I’m always learning & memory banking). I’ve learned not to be so much in “my feelings” when I see things that come and go in my life, because I know it’s “a season and a reason.” God is trying to show me something and I better clear my vision to see it! Things that dissipate are meant to disappear.

Make it a great life!

(Empowering Sisterhood) RWR: Testimonial

Audrey Rwr Jenkins..this lady here had a very empowering sisterhood business meeting today. She’s been inviting me for years, I finally attended today. Boy I’m glad I did! We talked about our businesses, how to support each other, how to revamp and rebuild our businesses and so much more. I took away a lot of encouragement, advice and motivation. I highly recommend if you own a business or just need some motivation, that you attend the next one! Follow her on Facebook!

3rd Annual Honoree’s-Celebration of Women

I know I’ve said it a few times now, but the 3rd Annual Celebration of Women – Sisterhood Session Summit really touched my heart. RWR also had the pleasure of honoring our Honoree’s! RWR always has an eye out for our 3 Pillars of excellence:

  • Sisterhood
  • Community
  • Celebration of Women

These honoree’s displayed an abundance of excellence in their rightful categories:

  • Suzanne Douglas-Nelson (Owner of Desert Lily Solutions LLC) received our Sisterhood Achievement Award = Suzanne has been a friend to RWR for over 10 years. It doesn’t matter how often we see or speak with each other she is always there to assist. Always there to support a RWR cause without hesitation. Her persona/personality always displays Sisterhood. Congrats Suzanne!
  • Channel Powe (Founder of PPAT) received our Community Achievement Award  = Channel has been a champion fighting in our community for many years. She serves on the Balsz School Board & she is the founder of Progressive Power Activist Training (PPAT). Training advocates, organizers, and leaders who will be qualified, competent and active in advocating progressive public policies throughout the sate of Arizona. Congrats Channel!
  • Ericka Nicholes – (Director of Marketing & Community Relations for South West Advanced Neurological Rehab) received our Celebration of Women Achievement Award = Ericka is an amazing social worker and human services advocate. She is also a champion in her community as an advocate for children in the Roosevelt School District – she threw herself in the race for school board not as a politician but as a Parent/Mother. With all the tireless work she does, she put on another cap “Foster Mother.” Understanding that all children need that extra assistance for their greatness -she thought of others and not herself. Congrats Ericka!

RWR gives tremendous gratitude for these women who are roles models in our community. I appreciate and applaud you ladies. Keep up the magnificent work!

Much Love; Peace; & Blessings!

Sisterhood Session Summit(3/18/17)

The 3rd Annual Celebration of Women – Sisterhood Session Summit was FABULOUS! We definitely celebrated Sisterhood for Women’s History Month!

I am thankful that I was able to manifest such an intelligent and diverse panel. From our sophisticated seasoned panelist to our magnificent millennials.  Our panelist included:

  1. Dr. Ann Hart – President of NAACP Maricopa
  2. Adina  Howard – R&B Singer
  3. Kianey Carter – Emmy Award Winning TV Producer
  4. Kenja Hassan – Director of Community Relations at Arizona State University
  5. Laura Pastor – Vice Mayor & Councilwoman – Phoenix
  6. Angie Amarillas-Mortemore – Director Business Development
  7. Collette Watson – Award-Winning Writer; Artist & Creative Director
  8. Tamara Floyd – RWR Community Outreach Director

Our conversation consisted of many topics that are very relatable to women such as Sisterhood: Are we creating barriers for ourselves in sisterhood? What Does Sisterhood Mean To You? Are we being looked over for jobs just because we are women with higher qualifications than our male counter parts? How has being in the music industry created a sisterhood? Women in politics – are we being taken seriously? Women who are the back-bones of their family creating a legacy of entrepreneurship. Women who are excelling in education. More women who have created and carved out their own paths of success. Economic Empowerment for Women.

These we just a few of the sisterhood sessions that went on. We laughed and we even had a couple of women who shed a tear of empowerment. We not only feed our bodies with a great lunch and scrumptious desserts we fed our soul with a sisterhood connections; with words of encouragement.  When know when women REALLY COME together AUTHENTICALLY there is nothing or no one that can stop us from making our mark in our communities; in our states; in the country!

RWR Letter: Waterhose in the Rain?

So, I’m sure a huge majority could state they are not their significant others 1st love or 1st date. In this year of 2016 a lot of us are in “blended families.” It’s like the new norm nowadays.

This lady has come to tell us a story that she encountered with her significant other’s ex-wife. We have to accept and understand the ex’s will give calls regarding children, unsolved financial issues, taxes, and I’m sure a host of things, but this one caught her by surprise.

One great afternoon while the couple was enjoying themselves on a lazy Sunday – her significant other’s ex-wife called and stated she needed to get the waterhose for the lawn and did he happen to take it. He informed her that he was not sure if he had it, but was unable to check at this time, but would get back to her. The Ex, insisted that she needed to get a return call soon, or to come by and bring it because she needed it. When he got off the phone with his ex, he told his lady that was his ex-wife and she was calling to find out if he had the waterhose. Well, she thought she must be be the only one crazy because as they were enjoying this lazy Sunday, it was also pouring raining outside. The side-eye has emerged! As we know, there was questions after questions, of which he really didn’t care to answer, or seem to even worry that it was raining outside and just maybe her call wasn’t about a waterhose.

Our friend who we will call “Ms. Side-eye” just wanted to hear if anyone else thought there was something really strange about calling with urgency for a waterhose and it was raining, or is she that person who thinks “you can piss me on call it rain.”

Give this sista your real opinions, or just share a “side-eye” with her.

#RWRLetters, this is real we can’t make this up!

RWR Saturday Sisterhood Session

Let’s face it and keep it real! Not everyone is going to love or like us. Not everyone is going to support our businesses or even “get” what we do…But that doesn’t give us reason to “throw shade” or disrespect each other.

We’re going to have a mature conversation and share REAL LIFE incidents when we feel “shade” was thrown and why. Have you thrown shade and why?

After disecting “the shade” we’re looking for positive solutions and mindset changes. When we love and respect ourselves we want the same in return, but we have to realize not everyone is there. I’m a proponet of “meeting people where they are at” as long as I don’t have to meet them in an “unhealthy space.”

***LIVE TAPING*** Sometimes, you have to keep it “real” real to get to the true problems.
